Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic ahead of the start of the African Cup of Nations action in Group D wants his side to treat every opponents with respect.

The Black Stars are tipped as one of the favourites to win the title in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Though very confident and determined to end Ghana's long wait, 30 years since the Black Stars lifted their fourth title, Stevanovic is not ready to allow complacency creep into his squad.

"In football, everything is possible," Stevanovic said as he explained the possibility of the tournament recording upsets.

Ghana are tipped to make a winning start at the Stade de Franceville on Tuesday against first-timer Botswana. But for Stevanovic, every opponent poses the same threat.

"In football, everyone has the chance to get a trophy. For example in 2004, in the European Championship in Portugal, the winner was Greece and nobody thought Greece would take the championship, it’s true or not," he added.

"For that, there are surprises in football."

The Ghana coach rather wants the Black Stars to take one game at a time and give off their best.

"We need to play step by step and think that always and in every game, we have to give our maximum, 100 percent for that with our quality. But always, [we have to] be aware of our quality."
