Thrilling encounters mark Group A opening matches in Southern Zone of Regional Women’s Championship

Matchday One of the 2025/26 GFA Regional Women’s Championship Southern Zone delivered excitement, goals, and dramatic finishes as teams in Group A battled for early advantage in the race toward Women’s Premier League qualification.

At the end of an action-packed opening round, Rootz Sistaz and Blacoe Soccer Queens all secured important results to kick-start their campaigns on a positive note.

Immigration Ladies and Essiam Socrates produced one of the most entertaining games of the day, sharing the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Another closely fought contest saw Rootz Sistaz edge past Sissamba Ladies in a five-goal thriller. Rootz Sistaz emerged 3-2 winners after an intense battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Sissamba Ladies put up a spirited performance, but Rootz Sistaz capitalized on crucial moments to claim maximum points and move into a strong early position in the group standings.

In the final Group A fixture, Blacoe Soccer Queens secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Adidome Unity Ladies. The Soccer Queens showed composure and determination to hold onto their advantage despite pressure from their opponents in the latter stages of the game.

Match day two is scheduled for Saturday 16 May at the Tuba Astro Turf.
