The first round of the 2024/25 Ashanti Regional Football Association (ARFA) Division 2 League has concluded in a peaceful and highly competitive manner, setting a strong precedent for grassroots football in the region. The league’s first half ended without a single protest or major controversy, a significant achievement in a competition known for its intensity.

Ebony FC emerged as the standout team in the first round, putting on an impeccable display of consistency and skill. Competing in Group 5, the team won all eight of their matches, securing the maximum 24 points and finishing unbeaten and without a single draw. Their dominance has set the pace for the rest of the league as they look to maintain their perfect record in the second round.

The adoption of the Game Centre concept by ARFA has been instrumental in ensuring the league’s success. By centralizing match venues, the concept has enhanced the quality of officiating, with no reported issues regarding referee performance. This approach has also fostered a more organized and professional atmosphere, further boosting the credibility of the competition.

Two zones—Zone 1 and Zone 2—were selected to pilot the Competition Management System (CMS) this season. The CMS has streamlined operations, eliminating disputes and ensuring transparency. Its success in these zones has been a key factor in the smooth running of the first round. ARFA plans to expand the CMS to all zones in the upcoming season, a move expected to further enhance the league’s efficiency.

The second round of the Ashanti Regional Division 2 League is set to resume on January 25th and 26th, 2025, across all Game Centres. With the stakes even higher, teams will be eager to improve their standings and challenge for promotion.
