The ongoing Elite U15 Girls Championship has seen impressive performances from the Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions, both currently topping their respective groups after Day 2 of the competition.

The Ashanti Region leads Group A with 5 points from two games. Their strong showing has placed them ahead of Upper East Region, which holds the second position with 4 points. Northern Region is in third place with 3 points from two games, while Eastern Region and Western Region occupy the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, each yet to secure a point.

In Group B, Greater Accra has emerged as the frontrunner, securing 6 points from their opening two games. Brong Ahafo follows closely in second place with 5 points. Central Region holds the third position with 1 point, while Upper West and Volta Region are in the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, both without any points.

According to the tournament rules, penalty shootouts are engaged in after a draw game. The winner of the shootout is awarded 2 points, while the losing team receives 1 point. This rule adds an exciting dynamic to the competition, ensuring that every game has a decisive outcome, and also to help the young girls to learn the skill of taking penalty kicks.

The championship will resume on Friday with Match Day 3 games, where teams will continue to compete for qualification to the knockout stages. The competitive nature of the tournament and the high level of talent on display promise more thrilling matches in the days to come.
