The opening day of the Elite U15 Boys Championship saw intense action at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram, with standout victories for Ashanti, Volta, and Greater Accra Regions, while Northern Region secured a hard-fought win.
Ashanti Region 3-0 Eastern Region
The first match of the day saw Ashanti Region put on a dominant display, defeating Eastern Region 3-0. Goals from Shadrack Brobbey, Mohammed Sani Zakaria, and Kelvin Amo Baffoe sealed the victory. Ashanti's Abdul Aziz Issah was named Man of the Match for his exceptional performance throughout the game.
Northern Region 3-2 Upper East
In a thrilling encounter, Northern Region edged out Upper East Region 3-2. Northern Region struck first through Shamsudeen Sulemana, but Kwara Abdul Baari quickly equalized for Upper East. Sylvester Akuka Asam then put Upper East in the lead with a second goal. However, Shamsudeen Sulemana leveled the score again before Sumaila Moghammed's late finish secured the win for Northern Region. Apam Prince Asan of Upper East Region was awarded MVP for his efforts during the match.
Central Region 2-0 Western Region (Reserve Game)
In the non-scoring reserve game, Central Region overcame Western Region 2-0. Enoch Lartey and Essuman Ezra each found the back of the net. While the match did not count towards the tournament's standings, it provided both teams an opportunity to gain valuable match experience.
Greater Accra Region 4-0 Upper West Region
Greater Accra Region delivered a commanding performance in their 4-0 victory over Upper West Region. Saviour Nyadrokoh led the charge with a brace, while Samuel Demesi and Sumaila Mubarak added one goal each. Samuel Owusu of Greater Accra was named the MVP for his pivotal role in the win.
Volta Region 3-1 Brong Ahafo Region
The final match of the day saw Volta Region secure a 3-1 win over Brong Ahafo Region. Goals from Forgive Amevor, Marwan Alhassan, and Kwakofi Nelly earned Volta the victory. Kwakofi Nelly's outstanding performance on the field earned him the Man of the Match honours.
With the opening matches complete, teams will take a break on Friday to regroup and prepare for their second set of games. Match Day 2 is set to resume on Saturday, with expectations high for more thrilling football action.
The Elite U15 Boys Championship is part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme which aims at providing a platform for young football talents from across Ghana to showcase their skills and continue their development in a competitive environment.
