FIFA TDS: Greater Accra and Eastern Region record massive wins, B.A manage slim win to stay on top on Day 2 of Elite U15 Girls Championship

Eastern Region recovered from their opening day defeat to Ashanti Region to register a massive 6-1 win over Upper West Region in a match in which Berlinda Kpentey drew applause from all with her incredible outing.

The Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions both continued their winning ways, making it two wins out of two. Greater Accra recorded an impressive 4-0 win over Volta Region while the Ashanti Region managed to win on penalties against the Northern Region.

CENTRAL REGION 1 (3)-1 (4) BRONG AHAFO REGION The Brong Ahafo Region came out victorious over Central Region in a penalty shootout after sharing the spoils with the Central Region in regulation time. Salamatu Mahmud shot the Central Region into the lead before Yvonne Faar Yeboah restored parity for the Brong Ahafo Region side. Josephine Nyafule, the shot-stopper for Bono Ahafo was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the match after denying Central Region from scoring on a number of occasions.

GREATER ACCRA REGION 4-0 VOLTA REGION The Greater Accra Region had a field day, thrashing the Volta Region 4-0 in their second match of the competition after defeating Upper West Region 1-0 in their first game. Goals scored by Shelter Akorli, Seidatu Wahab, Aglebe Venunye and Priscilla Mensah earned the Greater Accra Region the 4-0 victory over the Volta Region. Priscilla Mensah of Greater Accra Region was awarded player of the match after her stellar performance in the game.

NORTHERN REGION 0 (2)-0 (4) ASHANTI REGION Arguably the best game of the afternoon, the Northern Region and Ashanti Region shared the spoils after regulation time ended in a goalless stalemate. It was, however, the Northern Region that had the best chance of winning the game after winning a penalty in the second half. But Goalkeeper for Ashanti Region Warama Abdulai Borsu calmly stopped Hajaratu’s kick to deny the Northern Region the opener.

The Ashanti Region emerged victorious during the penalty kicks with a 4-2 win over their Northern Region counterparts. Ashanti Region goalkeeper Abdulai Warama Borsu was named player of the match after her amazing performance.

EASTERN REGION 6-1 UPPER WEST REGION The Eastern Region mauled the Upper West Region in a 7-goal thriller as they recorded the biggest win on Matchday 2. Belinda Kpentey registered an incredible hat trick, the second of the tournament, with Gyekyewaa Julianna, skipper for Eastern Region, netting a brace before Daniela Abass topped it up with the final goal to make it 6. Blessing Vincent scored the consolation goal for the Upper West Region. Belinda Kpentey, after scoring a hat trick, was adjudged player of the match.

UPPER EAST REGION 3-0 WESTERN REGION The Upper East Region recorded a comprehensive victory over Western Region in the final game of Matchday 2. Goals from Ayaago Seidu, Azaba Maddalene and an own goal from Western Region helped them secure the win over the Westerners. Joyce Awane was named player of the match.

The championship will go on break on Thursday and resume on Friday with some potentially absorbing matchups.
