Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Monday, August 26, 2024, cut the sod for the construction of a new gymnasium, swimming pool and Futsal Arena at the GFA's Technical Centre, the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE), located at Prampram.

Together with the Executive Council, Delegates to Congress, and staff of the GFA, the President performed the sod cutting ceremony to symbolise the construction of these two facilties which will further enhance the new-look centre.

The new gymnasium will help to improve players' physical strength and capabilities while the swimming pool will serve as a rehabilitation hub for players, in particular, and other officials, in general.

The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence has seen a major facelift as the facility currently boasts of 4 dormitories, an administrative block, one large multipurpose hall, a changing room, and four football pitches, with one being an artificial turf, equipped with floodlights.

The addition of the two facilities will greatly improve efficiency and the outlook of the Technical Centre, which also serves as the camping venue for the various national teams, as well as domestic and international Football Clubs.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, GFA President, Edwin Simeon-Okraku, urged the executing construction firm, project consultants, and staff of the Technical Centre to ensure the work was executed on schedule.

He expressed the belief that the completion of the two major projects would enhance the image of the Ghana Football Association.

These enhancements, spearheaded by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under President Simeon-Okraku's leadership, are incremental steps being implemented towards elevating the centre's facilities to meet international standards.

Funded, in part, from FIFA Forward Funds, these developments underscore the GFA's commitment to enhancing football infrastructure across the country.

The GFA has also completed the installation of two new floodlights at the Centre. The installation of the floodlights not only extends the usability of the centre's facilities but also enables evening training sessions and matches, catering for the needs of both players and other Sports Professionals who undergo training programs at the Center.

The Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, regarded as a vital hub for football development in Ghana, is poised to further solidify its status as a premier training facility with these latest improvements.

The upgraded facilities will not only benefit the national teams but also provide a platform for aspiring footballers to hone their skills and realize their full potential.
