The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in partnership with FIFA, continues its TDS Project nationwide by embarking on the exciting initiative to uncover and nurture more young football talent across the country.

The GFA's Talent Identification Programme is kicking off its maiden visit in the Volta Region, specifically in the Ho Municipal area.

Football Festival for Basic Schools:

As part of the programme, the GFA will engage with various basic schools in the region, hosting a thrilling football festival. This event aims to provide a platform for young students to showcase their skills, while also promoting the development of grassroots football in the region.

Capacity Building for Community Coaches:

In addition to the football festival, the GFA will conduct a 3-day training workshop for community coaches. This comprehensive training programme will focus on imparting fundamental training techniques for young players. The workshop will equip coaches with the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and develop talented youngsters in their communities.

Setting up District Training Centers:

As part of the programme GFA will set up District Training Centers (DTC) , where selected top talents can join to continue their development.

Objectives of the Talent Identification Programme:

The GFA's Talent Identification Programme seeks to achieve the following objectives:

1. Identify and develop young football talent in Ghana. 2. Provide opportunities for grassroots football development in rural and underserved communities. 3. Enhance the capacity of community coaches to identify and nurture talented young players. 4. Promote football as a tool for social development and youth empowerment.

The GFA's Talent Identification Programme is a significant step towards developing and promoting grassroots football in Ghana. By engaging with basic schools and community coaches, the programme aims to create a sustainable pipeline for identifying and nurturing young football talent. As the program kicks off, we eagerly anticipate the discovery of new talent and the growth of football in the region.

It would be recalled that the GFA TDS started as a pilot programme in the Greater Accra Region under the FIFA TDS initiative.
