The Referees Department has commenced a rigorous training program for Group 2 of Division One League referees at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram. This course, taking place from November 7th to November 10th, 2024, is designed to enhance the officiating skills and fitness of the selected referees and assistant referees.
A total of 40 participants, comprising 20 referees and 20 assistant referees, are part of the training program. The course aims to equip these officials with the latest knowledge and techniques needed to handle games effectively. Key elements of the training include Technical Situation and Analysis, Fitness Preparation, and critical aspects of modern refereeing.
The curriculum covers a range of topics such as the recent amendments to the Laws of the Game for the 2024/25 season, essential refereeing concepts, and specific match situations like offside, handball, challenges, tactical fouls, and penalty area incidents. Participants will also learn about positioning, reading the game, player management, and game control.
The program integrates theoretical and practical components, including video analysis, written assessments, and a fitness check. An important aspect of the course is the focus on integrity and professionalism, alongside CMS registration and presentation.
Under the guidance of National and Regional Instructors, the course is supervised by the Referees Committee and the Department, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to contribute positively to the Division One League.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Referees Department to uphold high standards in officiating, promoting consistency, and fair play within Ghanaian football.
