Upper East RFA holds successful Ordinary Congress

The Upper East Regional Football Association (UERFA) held its annual ordinary congress on Thursday, 17th October, 2024 at the Regional House of Chiefs.

The congress which ushers in the new football season,  was attended by clubs administrators, District Football Association Chairmen, the Referees Association, Coaches Association, Players, other Constituent bodies among others.

Executive Council member, Eugene Nobel Noel represented the President of the Football Association,  Mr. Kurt E. S Okraku.

In his welcome address, the Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida, admonished clubs to keep close tabs on branding and enhance social media presence to promote their activities to attract sponsorship and supporters.

He also thanked the GFA President for his immense support towards grassroots football by continuously providing footballs and other incentives for colts’ clubs including the free license D Coaching Course for Colts clubs in the region.

The Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman also called on football administrators to use the appropriate channels to express concerns and grievances.

In a speech read on his behalf by Executive Council member, Eugene Nobel Noel, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, underscored the vital role of the RFAs as the bedrock of football in the country. He emphasised his administration support to the Regional blocks by paying monthly subvention, payment of officiating fees for clubs, provision of footballs for second, third, women's and Colts Clubs in the regions amongst several vital interventions.

The Ghana Football Association reiterated its commitment to the introduction of new competitions such as the Girls U15 and U17 Colts Leagues, Boys U15 and U17 Inter District Festival and Inter-Regional Championships.

Club officials, players and administrators are expected to sign a mandatory integrity form to kick start activities for the new season.

The Upper East Regional Second Division League is scheduled to kickoff on November, 1st – 4th , 2024.
