Volta RFA Holds Successful Annual Ordinary Congress

The 2024/25 Ordinary Session of Congress of the Volta Regional Football Association was held at the Ho Municipal Assembly Conference room on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

Over one hundred delegates and participants, representing football stakeholders in the region were in attendance at the Congress. These included Club representatives, District Football Association Chairmen as well as other invited dignitaries.

Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association, Daniel Agbogah, in his address, enumerated the successes the Association has chalked over the year under review, adding how his team of Executive Council members are determined to ensure that all football entrepreneurs/stakeholders in the region continue to expand their football businesses.

"Football, is a social business, and we, the Executive Council, are committed to working hard to ensure that you are offered a lot more business platforms to explore further," he said.

Representing the President of the GFA, Executive Council member Gideon Fosu, who was the special guest of honour at the Congress, began his speech by extending warm greetings to the Congress on behalf of the President.

He commended Chairman Daniel Agbogah and the VRFA Executive Council for organizing what he described as an outstanding league last season, urging the region to ensure the development of grassroots football, as it is a key area on the President's heart.

He announced that the Association would continue to support the RFA in the area of officiating fees to the tune of GHS 300,000 for each region for the season, in addition to providing the RFAs and DFAs with logistics, monthly subventions, monthly allowances for RFA Chairmen, their Vice Chairmen, and Referees Managers.

Gideon Fosu added that the GFA, in collaboration with FIFA, invested $43,000 in capacity building for Women Administrators at the grassroots level, $100,000 in purchasing footballs for the grassroots and will continue to invest another $100,000 in purchasing footballs for colts clubs, a clear indication of the GFA's continuing drive to develop and empower the grassroots.

He also outlined a number of festivals including the Elite U15 Championship for both Boys and Girls, U15 Inter- District Festivals, Boys and Girls U -17 Inter-district Festivals, Boys and Girls Inter-Regional Championships for U15 and U -17, which the RFAs and DFAs are expected to organize and participate in for the coming season.

Gideon Fosu also communicated the decision of the Executive Council mandating all RFAs to commence mandatory girls colts U-13, U-15, and U-17 leagues in the DFAs just like that of the boys colts league.

In concluding his speech, he urged all participants in the football ecosystem to sign the mandatory integrity form to be able to participate in the competitions and activities of the GFA.

It was announced that the Regional Division Two League in the Volta Region is scheduled to commence on November 9th, 2024.
