In a heartwarming gesture of support for clubs participating in the ongoing Regional Championship playoffs, Women’s representative on the Ghana Football Association(GFA) Executive Council, Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah has donated essential items to the six clubs participating in the Southern Zone in Sogakope, Volta Region.
Robert Osei Danso, CEO of Berry Ladies Football Club and Samuel Kwame Boadu, Head of Digital Marketing at Berry Ladies FC made the donation on her behalf.
The brief ceremony took place at the WAFA Park, where Volta RFA chairman, Dan Agbogah, GFA representatives, Barbara Yankah and Matilda Dimedo, and representatives from each of the six clubs were present to receive the items.
The donated items included bags of water, packs of bottled water and drinks, aimed at supporting the teams during their stay and ensuring their hydration and refreshment needs were met throughout the competition.
Robert Osei-Danso, in his address, conveyed Dr. Gifty's apologies for her absence and expressed her dedication to supporting the development of women's football in Ghana.
"Gifty would have loved to be here today, but due to other commitments, she couldn't make it. However, she is with us in spirit and fully supports these talented athletes. She hopes to be present during the tournament to cheer you on”.
The Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association, Daniel Agbogah extended heartfelt gratitude to Gifty on behalf of the six clubs.
"We are immensely grateful to Mrs. Oware-Mensah for her continued support. Her generosity is a testament to her dedication to the growth of women's football in Ghana. These donations will go a long way in ensuring that the players are comfortable and focused during the tournament," he said.
Barbra Yankah speaking on behalf of the clubs, expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah and her representatives for the generous donation.
"This support means a lot to us. It's encouraging to see such commitment to women's football, and we are truly grateful for these provisions," she said.
This act of kindness by Mrs. Gifty Oware-Mensah and her representatives serves as a shining example of the positive impact that can be made through community support and collaboration in advancing women's football in Ghana.
Similar support will be offered to clubs competing in the Northern Zone.
