Head of Women Football Development at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Jennifer Amankwa Sarpong has said the the Association is on course with the implementation of the Women’s Football Strategy, reiterating the Association’s commitment to developing the Women’s game across the country.

In a brief presentation at the ongoing Women Football Administrators Course at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the Women’s Football lead spoke on the Mission, Vision and outlined some achievements of the Six Pillars of the GFA Women Football strategy since the Launch of the Strategy.

"In the field of Education, the GFA has offered refresher courses for female coaches, trained and built the capacities of administrators, trained and developed female referees and has expanded and organised courses for qualified technical staff at the National team levels," she said.

"Through the incorporation of the “Catch Them Young Referee Policy” at the grass-root level, we have also trained young girls in refereeing and also launched the Football4Girls Project across some Regions hoping to expand that later in the year.

"The area of Marketing and Communication is also a key aspect where the FA is investing heavily to ensure the women’s game is prompted across all networks and social media in order to draw some potential sponsors just as the main Women’s Premier League has Malta Guinness as sponsors.

"The GFA in the immediate short-term, is planning to launch the Women Football Campaign and League. Development areas like the U13, U15 and U17 will be a key focus. We are also gearing up to engage and empower more young girls to play football through the Football4Girls initiative," she added

The Women Football Administrators Course is a 6-day capacity building workshop being organised in two batches by the GFA in collaboration with FIFA, which forms part of the implementation stage of the GFA Women Football strategy.
