Young Lions FC crowned 2025/26 NRFA Colts Champions

Young Lions FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) Colts Championship after finishing top of the final standings in an impressive campaign.

The Sagnarigu-based side accumulated seven points to emerge winners ahead of Pong Tamale Gbewaa FC, Kumbungu City Babies, and Tamale Vision Babies in the regional championship.

Young Lions' disciplined performances throughout the competition saw them secure the title and confirm their status as the best juvenile side in the Northern Region for the 2025/26 season. Their triumph reflects the club's growing investment in youth development and grassroots football.

Pong Tamale Gbewaa FC finished as runners-up after a spirited campaign, while Kumbungu City Babies claimed third place. Tamale Vision Babies completed the four-team standings after displaying determination and promising talent throughout the tournament.

As regional champions, Young Lions FC received the championship trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize, with the other top-placed clubs also earning cash rewards in recognition of their performances.

Abdallah Jafar of Young Lions FC was named the Best Player of the competition after an exceptional campaign that inspired his side to the title. The Top Scorer award was shared by Emmanuel Kobby of Young Lions FC and Issahaku Umar of Kumbungu City Babies, who finished the tournament as joint leading marksmen. Meanwhile, Iddrisu Halifa of Kumbungu City Babies earned the Best Goalkeeper award in recognition of his outstanding performances between the posts.

The successful staging of the championship once again highlighted the Northern Regional Football Association's commitment to nurturing young football talent and providing a competitive platform for emerging players to develop and showcase their abilities.
